Lost and lonely puppy rescued from the streets and an uncertain future
Little Lara was all alone and wandering the streets in utter bewilderment when she was found at the just the tender age of three months old.
How she got to be there we have no idea. Equally we have no idea where her mother or siblings are either.
She was found by animal welfare volunteers who regularly patrol the streets of Fethiye.
It was quite clear she could not survive where she was.
And so she was scooped up and taken and taken into care but it was obvious that the shelter was not the place for her.
Volunteers became more and more concerned for her as there was no clear future for her.
They could not bring themselves to take her to the shelter and she could not go back on the street.
They needed help and so they came to Animal Friends of Turkey to ask whether we could intervene to give little Lara the chance of a more positive future.
Lara is in foster care now and she is now approaching six months old.
Our task will be to keep her safe and to prepare her for travel to the UK and hopefully to a new loving home.
We suspect Lara will grow into a small to medium sized dog and her gentle nature is already evident.
She gets on well with the other dogs she lives with in foster care and we will soon be testing her with cats.
As she is still very young we are assuming that we can encourage her to be comfortable and friendly around cats.
We are expecting her to be ready for travel to the UK around the turn of the year.

A home check is always made and while there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a donation with all our dogs to help towards our costs.
