Tiny Kookie dumped at the shelter to make way for new arrival – Reserved
Kookie has a classic back story but it’s one that is sad nevertheless.
Kookie was the pet dog for a young couple for around two years until suddenly something changed and this sweet little girl wasn’t wanted anymore.
The change was that the couple had a baby and no longer wanted a dog in the house.
So off she got packed to the shelter.

The sudden change must have been traumatising for this small and loving girl as the shelter is no place for a dog more used to home comforts.
Her plight was alerted to us at Animal Friends of Turkey and we agreed to step in to help little Kookie.

So we went to the shelter to pick her up and now she is in AFOT foster care in Fethiye being readied for the adventure of her life – the chance of a new life with a loving family in the UK.
We expect her to be ready to make her journey across Europe around the turn of the year.

Kookie was filthy and covered with fleas when she was picked up and she looked a different girl after being bathed and cleaned up.
She is a slight girl and currently only weighs just over seven kilos.

She has a lovely nature and she loves nothing better than getting cuddles on the sofa.
She is now living with a cat housemate in her new foster home although we are not entirely sure whether she is the most cat friendly of dogs.
She is yet to be properly tested with young children.
Our task now is to find her the perfect home where she can feel happy and secure with a family that can give her the unconditional love she truly deserves.

So if you feel you could be that special person for Kookie then please check out what’s involved in taking on one of our rescue dogs by clicking this link and reading our Dog Adoption Policy guidelines.
A home check is always made and while there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a donation with all our dogs to help towards our costs.
