Lena was found abandoned, starving and malnourished in the forest by a lovely Turkish couple.

She was with another dog, called Lilli, also an AFOT dog. Perhaps they’d just been cruelly dumped there together or found one another wandering the forest alone but they’d formed a friendship and Lilli was very protective of Lena.

Lena was found in the forest starving.

The rescuers initially thought Lena might have been Lilli’s pup but the Vet wasn’t so sure so we can’t be either. We never know the true history of rescue dogs, particularly those abandoned, and a lot can be summation but what we do know is that they are both beautiful dogs.

Lovely Lena

Lena is approximately 16 months old and is a blonde mixed breed medium sized dog weighing 20-25kg (August 2022).

The Turkish couple fostered the dogs but sadly had to move to Antalya so the dogs went to another animal rescuer prior to them reaching out to AFOT.

Lena is very placid. She gets on well with all the other dogs in rescue but sometimes likes to take herself off away from it all to a quiet spot to watch.

Enjoying some quiet time.

Lena is good with children, good on the lead and knows her basic commands. She can be a little food aggressive but this is normal with dogs who have had to fight for every scrap of food and it is being dealt with by her foster carer. Ongoing caring, consistent training will be a must for Lena as she is only a young girl. This will benefit not only Lena but also build up a trust and relationship with adopter.

Lena loves other dogs, children and knows all her basic commands.

Lena is now ready to travel to her forever home in UK so if you think that could be you then please check out what’s involved in taking on one of our rescue dogs by clicking this link and reading our Dog Adoption Policy guidelines.

She’s ready to travel on our next happy bus to UK.

A home check is always made and while there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs.

If you want to register your interest in Lena or are interested in providing a loving home for one of our rescue dogs in general then please complete and submit our Dog Adoption Registration form.
