Young pup Lucky saved from the forest loves her cuddles
Lucky and her sister Cookie were only around three months old when they were spotted wandering alone on the edge of a forest by two walkers.
The friendly puppies approached the walkers for some fuss and finished up following them back to the main village of Uzumlu where they were staying.
They couldn’t keep them themselves so they approached the local animal rescue group that is based there.
They failed to find anyone to take them in permanently but they managed to find someone who was prepared to foster them.
That was how it was for the next three months and in that time the two sisters revelled in the domestic family life on offer there.
The family had small children and both Lucky and Cookie fell in love them and really enjoyed the rough and tumble that was on offer from them.
They had the full run of the house and liked nothing better than flopping out on the beds or snuggling up on the sofa for lots of affection and cuddles.
They were well settled and their life in the forest was by now a distant memory.
All was going swimmingly until the foster family had a sudden change of circumstances and could not look after them any more.
They contacted the rescue group who tried really hard to find a new home for the adorable Lucky and her sister.
Try as they might though they could not find anyone and it seemed as if the only option might be to take them back to the forest and to let them fend for themselves.
This would have been totally unfair on them and potentially dangerous given how accustomed Lucky and sister had become to domestic life.
It was then that they approached Animal Friends of Turkey to ask if we would be prepared to help.
So now we are desperately hoping we can find a new forever home for this rescue girl Lucky.
We could rehome the pair together but this is not essential so Lucky is available to rehome on her own.
Lucky is a beautiful young dog with a lovely temperament and she is superb with young children.
She put up with all the rough and tumble with the seven and eight year olds she lived with, and never once has she nipped as puppies so often do.
