Abandoned Dixie is just the perfect dog, dog, cat & children friendly
Rescue pup Dixie will make the most wonderful family dog for someone.
Dixie was abandoned when just five months old and left tied up with a rope around her neck to railings outside the villa where an English family was staying.
We suspect this was another typical case of someone getting a small puppy for the entertainment value but then tiring of them as the novelty wore off.
The children inside the villa were keen to let Dixie stay in the garden and the father agreed while he mounted a search for the owner.
He had no joy and then a few days later his landlord found out there was a dog staying on the land and asked him to remove her.
He couldn’t just put her back on the streets and so he went to a local vet where he bumped into an animal rescue rescue volunteer who offered to help.
They helped him extend the search for the owner via social media or for someone who might be prepared to take Dixie in as the alternative would be to be taken off to the shelter.
Neither the Good Samaritan nor the rescue volunteers wanted that and so they then contacted Animal Friends of Turkey for our help.
We offered to help find this lovely girl a forever home in the UK where she will never face rejection again.
Dixie has grown to be a little larger than a Labrador and she is now in foster care. She is doing well and will stay there until such time we manage to find a good home for her.
She is now approaching a year-old and will be around 18 months when she is ready to make her journey to the UK.
She is very submissive and is great around children and also has no issue with cats. She will chase cats if they run but she just wants to get up close and personal. She is very attached to two of the cats she is in foster care with.
Dixie will be happy with anyone who has the energy to play with her, and walk her very regularly.
She’s very obedient for a year old dog, and she has a wonderful nature with no aggression in anyway.
She can be a very greedy girl and she will happily eat everyone’s food soon once she has finished her own, given half the chance.
In short Dixie is a gem. She is desperate for a family she can feel is her own pack and she just loves human company.
We need to find the perfect home for her now and that is our mission.
