Rescue pup Bonnie so deserves a new chance of happiness – Reserved
Bonnie was just never cut out for life on the streets.
This lovely young pup lived on the streets near the village of Uzumlu near Fethiye with her sibling brother.
Not unusually the pair of them established their own territory and patch away from the other street dogs.
Unfortunately the patch they chose was on a busy main road where cars thunder along.
They were spotted by animal volunteers who became concerned for their safety.
They decided to go over there to gather them up and to take them to a safer spot.
As they approached, Bonnie’s brother scarpered but Bonnie just stayed put lying in the road.
She was found cold, wet and hungry and she was taken away to be cleaned up and fed before being taken to a forest area further away where other street dogs congregate.
Animal volunteers there regularly go to the forest to feed the dogs and they noticed Bonnie had a habit of finding her way back to the main road where she would just sit.
Her brother has not been seen since he ran off and they believe Bonnie wanted to go back to place where she last saw him.
It was almost as if she was waiting for her brother to come back. They went to great lengths to keep her safe and kept taking her back to the safety of the forest.
It made no difference – she kept going back.
The road there is fast and busy and it would have only been a matter of time before Bonnie was badly injured or worse.
And so the volunteers attached to the local Animal Aid group there approached us to ask for help in finding a permanent home for this sweet little girl.
We happily agreed and so Bonnie is now in foster care while we go through all the necessary work to get her properly cleared for transport to the UK.
We estimate that Bonnie is just under a year old and will be a little over one when she is ready to travel to the UK in around September or October this year.
Bonnie is a sweet and very gentle girl. She is living in foster care with other dogs and at the moment she is a little wary but with time she will blossom.
We believe she was bullied a little by one or two of the bigger dogs in the forest but she will grow in confidence again now she is safe.
She adores her cuddles and fuss and enjoys her walks. Her carers say she is such a lovely natured girl.
Sweet rescue girl Bonnie just needs a household where she can get all the love and attention she craves.
We will shortly be testing her for how well she gets on with children and cats.
