Labrador-X Sammy is the whole package. This young chap is friendly, fun, energetic and loving and is desperate for a family to call his very own.

Sammy sadly he had the misfortune of being owned by a family who thought it acceptable to keep him tied up in their Fethiye holiday home garden during the worst Turkish winter in recent history.

Smiling Sammy!

Starved of affection and left in isolation, this one year old Labrador-cross would get excited by the sound of someone simply walking past. He broke free during a massive rain storm and immediately ran around the town making friends and becoming a favourite of the local cafes and restaurants.

He was rescued after meeting Lucky, an injured AFOT dog going through rehabilitation. Sammy immediately got Lucky playing and moving more – like a doggy Mr Motivator – he just stuck by his side until today.

Sammy overflows with love towards people. He will lock eyes and fall in love with you at first sight. He’s super mushy, and won’t leave your side if you love him back. He gives as good as he gets if not more.

On the street he will chase cats or go run to play with other dogs if not kept on a lead. There’s no aggression, it’s all play, but of course the cats don’t see it that way. He’s been put in his place by a few when he tried to sniff! He is not aggressive towards other dogs and could be fine with a dog or cats at home, although he hasn’t been cat tested yet.

He understands boundaries, responds instantly and as much as he’d love to sleep with you, he’s been used to sleeping with other dogs and as such doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety. But when he hears you come back home, he will be desperate to get to you, much like when he was tied up and abandoned.

Having a well earned snooze.

Like a typical Labrador, Sammy has a seemingly unlimited appetite but won’t beg for food at the table. He’s been taught he doesn’t get food at the table where humans eat and doesn’t get human food. He adapts well to set mealtimes around your lifestyle, he’s simply just happy to be there. He weighs on the region of 22kg (July 2022)

Sammy does love a good run!

Sammy is so care free and fun loving it’s possible he could get lost in his adventures when off the lead, so he must really be kept on a lead until proper recall training is received and any potential adopter should be aware of this need.

Sammy is a bouncy and lively dog, he would benefit from a fun and active household but could equally make a loyal loving companion to a more slow paced home environment. He has his whole life ahead of him and just wants to give it to where he is loved and cared for.

A loyal & loving companion.

He has been in foster care in Turkey since March 2022 and now is his time to move on to his forever home. If you think that could be you then please check out what’s involved in taking on one of our rescue dogs by clicking this link and reading our Dog Adoption Policy guidelines.

A home check is always made and while there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs.
