Gentle rescue girl Mollie is now looking for that special home in the UK
Mollie is the sweetest girl you could ever wish to meet.
The gentle girl has been through such a lot but thankfully she has come through it unscathed.
Mollie was found wandering the streets of a town where dogs are not welcome and it was obvious she was in a great deal of distress and pain.
The folk who spotted her alerted a well known animal welfare volunteer in the area and she managed to track her down.
She found Mollie with quite a severe leg infection and also an advanced oral infection that covered her whole mouth.
The volunteer could not leave her and immediately got her off to a vet close to the famous tourist site of Cappadocia.
Mollie stayed there for a full six weeks having intense treatment, and there were major worries for her in the early days.
Thanks to that care she made a full and complete recovery and she has no lasting effects from the infections.
Once she was recovered the problem then came as to what to do with her as going back to the streets was not an option.
The volunteer contacted Animal Friends of Turkey to ask for our help, as we have done many times before for dogs in that area.
Our sanctuary and foster care network was full at that time and so we arranged for her to go to a sanctuary run by another charity until such time we had a space.
That came in June when Mollie was transferred into AFOT care.
Mollie is estimated to be over two years old and will be three by the time she is ready to travel to the UK in the New Year.
Mollie has settled well now in AFOT care now that she is feeling safe and cared for. She is tall slim girl of medium size in build weighing in around 18-20kg.
She is still quite timid but she is such an easy going dog. She is super dog friendly and she responds immediately to strokes and cuddles with a kiss.
She is good on the lead and she is finally starting to trust again, showing improvement every week. She still tends to stay back a little at first but it is clear she is yearning to trust and to be loved and that will soon pass.
She is now being readied for her journey to the UK and a forever home of her own.
She will make a lovely dog and will repay the love she is shown one thousand times over. She just needs someone who is prepared to show her the love and patience she needs to blossom.
