Lost and lonely puppy rescued from the streets and an uncertain future
Lovely Lara was lost and confused – no longer. Today she is as happy as can be in her new home. This is her original story:
Little Lara was all alone and wandering the streets in utter bewilderment when she was found at the just the tender age of three months old.
How she got to be there we have no idea. Equally we have no idea where her mother or siblings are either.
She was found by animal welfare volunteers who regularly patrol the streets of Fethiye.
It was quite clear she could not survive where she was.
And so she was scooped up and taken into care but it was obvious that the shelter was not the place for her.
Volunteers became more and more concerned for her as there was no clear future for her.
They could not bring themselves to take her to the shelter and she could not go back on the street.
They needed help and so they came to Animal Friends of Turkey to ask whether we could intervene to give little Lara the chance of a more positive future.
Lara is in foster care now and she is now around 15 months old.
Our task will be to keep her safe and to prepare her for travel to the UK and hopefully to a new loving home.
We suspect Lara has grown into a small to medium sized dog and her gentle nature is already evident.
She lives with other dogs in foster care happily enough although she has some possession issues she will help in working her way through.
For this reason we feel she would be better in a home without other dogs or children, and one also free of cats.
She is loving and happy and a real character. She’s a funny girl and in the right experienced hands she will make a fabulous and loyal companion.
