Gracie rescued from a mountain pass has found the right home just for her
This sweet girl would surely have perished had she not been found by kindhearted volunteers. She has since fought back from a dark place to find the love and happiness she truly deserves in Kent in the UK. Here is her original story …
Gracie was in a lot of pain when she was found stranded on a mountain pass in Turkey.
She had a badly damaged front paw which had several of its small bones broken.
Fortunately she was found by rescue volunteers who took her to a wonderful vet who did a great job in repairing the foot and in helping her to walk again on it.
Today she is pain free and fully mobile. She limps on it occasionally but this limp will vanish as time goes by and it is already becoming less and less often that she limps.
She was taken to a rescue park after her operation where she got on really well with the other dogs there.
However, she found the heat and dry, dusty conditions difficult and she developed a slight skin infection.
The volunteer charity based in Uzumlu near Fethiye then approached Animal Friends of Turkey as it was clear that Gracie would thrive much better in a permanent home of her own in the UK.
Gracie has since moved into one of our foster homes where she has settled well. Her skin condition and coat has improved hugely following a change of diet and she has settled well.
She is very sociable and has been successfully tested as child friendly as well. We will testing her with cats while she is in foster care.
She was a little timid when she first arrived in foster care but that timidity soon vanished and she is now loving life.
She just wants to show her gratitude for being cared for in a safe place all the time.
We estimate her age as being around 15 months and she should soon be ready to make the journey to her new forever home once it is found.
