Rescue dog saved from the shelter is now being rehomed

To most of us dogs are innocents who need our love and respect. Unfortunately not everyone sees the world of animals that way.

This is the story of one dog who lived on the streets near an area of private villas in Fethiye where many of the residents were happy to treat him with kindness.

Efes was a regular visitor to many of the villas and was welcome too. Another of the residents managed to get him neutered too.

One of the villa owners left money for food so this boy and another dog could be fed regularly. Both little dogs were so friendly, enjoying popping to visit the neighbours.

However, not all the residents were so welcoming of their furry neighbours and started to make noises about doing something to get them removed to the shelter.

This little lad is estimated to be about two-and-a-half years old, friendly and full of character (as any little terrier usually is)

Lovable rescue dog Efes would make someone a lovely pet in the UK

As the threat of being hauled off to the shelter grew one of the residents contacted Animal Friends of Turkey to ask for our help.

It was clear that they could not remain and it was also clear that they were unlikely to survive in the shelter given that they had been living to all intents and purposes as pets for so long.

We agreed to help as we could see there was little or indeed no future for them in Turkey.

And so AFOT stepped in and fortunately one of the couples who had been helping them agreed to foster them while we set about the task of finding them new forever homes in the UK.

The other thing we did was to ask our many Animal Friends of Turkey supporters to help us come up with names for the pair.

Rescue dog Efes is hoping for a new home in the UK

As a result, the younger girl has been given the name of Georgie while this boy has been named Ephesus or Efes for short.

The same people who stepped in to help this pair of rescue dogs have also kindly offered to pay for their microchips and rabies injections.

This means that AFOT needed to cover the cost of blood tests and their transport and obviously we need to find them each a loving home in the UK

Lovely rescue dog Efes loves his cuddles

The pair are adorable and would make lovely loving pets for somebody.

They are very easy going and love being with people. They have lived more like pets than street dogs and would make ideal pets for someone in the UK.

We are delighted to say that we succeeded in finding a family prepared to offer Efes a new loving home in the UK. We could not be happier
