Threatened girl Şeker finally finds love and security
Sweet Seker’s life has totally transformed now she has found her forever home in the UK. Here is her original story:
Sugar and spice and all things nice – that is our little rescue girl Şeker.
Şeker was a young pup struggling to survive on the streets near the beach area at the far end of Calis when she was found by a couple of animal volunteers.
She was clearly unwell, painfully thin and in need of treatment and care.
They could not leave her there so they scooped her up and took her off to the vet to be assessed.
The volunteers managed to gather in enough private donations to help fund Şeker’s treatment and with the vet’s help she began to turn the corner.
They did not want to take her back to the beach as it was clear that she was not cut out for life competing for food on the streets.
Instead they took her in as a foster care pup and she lived happily there with resident dog Moka.
All seemed to be going well until both Şeker – pronounced Shecker – and Moka got out and went off after a chicken belonging to a neighbour.
Both dogs were involved in the attack that killed the chicken but it was only Şeker who was seen by the neighbour. Unfortunately this is the kind of things dogs can do.
The neighbour was compensated but he insisted that Şeker be removed from the area as he feared for his other chickens.
The volunteer reluctantly took Şeker back to the streets but kept a close eye on her as she feared the young pup would not cope.
As it turns out she was right and it was not long before the volunteer took her back in but kept her indoors and out of sight of the neighbour.
It was then they came to AFOT to ask whether we could help find a more permanent solution for Şeker by finding her a home in the UK.
Şeker is around 18 months old now and now with another foster carer. She is extremely loving girl who follows her foster carer around all the time.
On walks she stays close to your hand and bounces along, although she is not that keen on scooters or motorbikes.
She is cat friendly and gets on really well with other dogs and we are sure she will make a great companion for someone out there.
We would love to find this sweet girl the loving forever home she so greatly deserves.
