Rescue pup Ocean is happy at last in her new home in the UK

This girl was so lost and lonely when she was found wandering the streets in bewildered state after being dumped by her owners. Happily she is now safe and well and happy in her new home in Kent. Here is her original story …

Rescue pup Ocean’s only crime was growing out of that cute tiny puppy stage.

New-born pups are very popular with families in Turkey. For many they are seen as little more than toys or entertainment for the children.

And all too often we see that once these pups start to lose that new-born appeal they get abandoned.

This is why you see so many puppies aged between four months and seven months just dumped out on the streets to fend for themselves.

Ocean loves her walks and is still a playful pup

Of course this is something they are totally unprepared for and many simply will not make it.

We believe Ocean was just one of these pups.

This young girl was spotted by AFOT founder Carol Holbrook outside a bar called the Ocean Blue restaurant during a recent visit to Turkey.

The pup was clearly in an extremely bad way and totally lost, bewildered and petrified. Carol could not leave her there so she scooped her up to take her to the vet.

Ocean loves her cuddles from foster Mum Dee

She had no lead but managed to borrow a length of plastic rope from a nearby shop to lead her away.

Unbelievably as she passed a Turkish lady with Ocean the lady tried to lash out at the pup with a kick.

Ocean had no regular food supply and she was clearly ill and in need of urgent medical attention.

Once she reached the vets she was as good as gold. The vet diagnosed that Ocean was suffering from anemia from a lack of nutrition and was full of fleas and ticks.

Ocean has grown into a stunning girl and will make a fabulous companion

She also showed signs of an immune deficiency as well and this was successfully treated. She stayed overnight on a drip and had perked up somewhat by the following day when she was taken off and put in the care of one of our AFOT foster carers.

Ocean has been in foster care since September and has grown into a stunning dog and is now around 8-9 months old

She has been recently neutered, chipped and vaccinated..  She is a medium to large dog and is still growing. Any prospective adopter should be aware of this.

She is prone to barking, especially at strangers who visit or disturbances outside and she will need some training in this area.

Ocean is now ready to travel to the UK

She loves walks but will need some consistent lead training as she thinks it is one big game, but then she is after all still a young dog and not yet out of puppyhood.

She likes nothing better than jumping up at foster mummy for big cuddles and cuddling up on the sofa.

She is a very friendly and loveable girl and she will make someone a wonderful companion.

She is great with other dogs, friendly with all that come and has been child tested.

She has not been cat tested so will need a cat free home and is ready now to make her journey to the UK when the right home is found.
