Mira was discovered with her mum and nine siblings in an isolated area in the Turkish mountains, struggling to survive. A visiting family fed them to keep them alive, knowing that once they left, no one else would visit due to the remoteness of the area and the inclement weather conditions. They contacted AFOT, and thanks to our amazing supporters, we raised the funds to help them.
Mira and her siblings were taken into our care, where they thrived. She is the most timid and gentle of the four sisters, and although she enjoys playing with the others, she can be overwhelmed by larger dogs. She would benefit from a well-adjusted older resident dog, though this is not essential.
Mira is completely dog-friendly and loves humans. She has met children over 8 years old and was careful around them, though still a little timid. She is not cat-tested. Mira is a massive chewer, so potential adopters will need to work with her on this behavior. She walks well on a lead and is very intelligent, responding well to commands.
Mira is a stunning girl with a calm and gentle nature. She is looking for a quiet home where she can be given the time she needs to adjust at her own pace. This may take a few months, but once she trusts her family, she will form a strong bond. Regular exercise, kind and consistent training will be important, and we would prefer an adopter with rescue experience to manage her needs and help her settle in.
As Mira currently lives in private kennels, she will need a period of adjustment to home life, and potential adopters should take this into consideration. With love and affection, Mira will become the most loving and loyal companion.
All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:
BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS
Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.
A home check is always made.
We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.
While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.
We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.
Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
If you’ve read through our adoption process and found a dog you think is right for you, it’s time to fill out our adoption form.
