Loving rescue dog Luca has his new happy ever after home
This boy was once lost and bewildered. Today he is living the life of dreams with his new family in Manchester. This is his original story …
Loving boy Luca was first spotted by animal welfare volunteers when he suddenly appeared out of nowhere on the beach in the Fethiye area of Turkey.
He was spotted frantically rushing from one end of the beach to the other in what we believe was a desperate search for his owner.
His behaviour showed all the hallmarks of a dog that had been owned but that had been cruelly dumped and abandoned.
The volunteers kept an eye on him but it was clear that he was not adapting well to his new life of a street dog with all that this life entails.
Then one day he strayed too far into a new territory where he was attacked by the resident street dogs who regarded that patch as their own.
This was when the volunteers stepped in as it was clear that Luca was not going to survive the new life his heartless owners had thrown him into.
When they rescued him he was limping badly from the attack. He was thin, starving and in a bad way.
The volunteers immediately contacted Animal Friends of Turkey to ask for our help, and we managed to find him a place within our foster care network where he is now safe.
While we believe Luca has been owned, we also believe that he has been kept outside as indeed most Turkish dogs are.
It took him a while to get used to being indoors in the home but with each passing week he has been getting more and more comfortable.
He still prefers to be outside when the weather is good but he is more than happy to scamper inside and snuggle up when the weather turns bad.
Luca is a stunner of a dog and a real lovely dog with a loving, gentle and kind nature. He is always the first to greet his foster mummy with a good morning welcome.
He is the most cuddly of dogs and loves nothing better than some love and affection.
He is very dog friendly and gets on with all shapes and sizes. He also loves his walks and is great on the lead.
We have yet to test him with either cats or with children but we hope to do so shortly.
What we really need now though is to find a loving, secure home for Luca in the UK and one where he can feel safe and secure.
