Alfie left homeless after owner falls ill

Alfie was lost but is now well and truly found and happy as can be in his new home in Eastbourne. His new family have changed his name to Charly and his life has been totally transformed. Here is his original story …

Alfie now named Charly cannot be happier to have found his new home

Alfie is a wonderful loving boy who lived happily with his ex-pat owners in Turkey for his first two years.

It is obvious he was well cared for but problems struck when first the husband died and then the wife became ill and had to spend a prolonged period in hospital over there.

Alfie – now Charly – meets his new family in Eastbourne

Friends of one of the beach bars kindly agreed to take him in while his owner was recovering but then it turned out that the wife was forced to return to the UK.

He stayed at the beach bar but they were left with a problem because they were not in a position to keep the wonderful Alfie full time as the bar was about to close for the winter season.

Alfie is happy to get his home comforts back in foster care

And so they turned to Animal Friends of Turkey for help in finding Alfie a new forever home in the UK.

Alfie has now been moved into AFOT foster care and is settling really well.

Alfie when we met him down at the beach

He wasn’t sure about going into the house at his foster home for the first couple of days.

He had been sleeping out on the beach at the beach bar and it was if he wasn’t sure he was allowed inside.

He had spent three weeks at the beach bar and the boss there did not allow him to enter the bar itself so he had to remain outside.

Alfie is a well behaved boy who will make a great companion

However, after a couple of days he ventured inside and now it’s almost as if he has always been there.

It is clear he is used to home comforts and he also clearly loves his cuddles and human interaction.

Alfie is still a young dog and is going to make a wonderful companion for somebody with the time and love to share with him.

He has a lovely nature and is great around children. He has yet to be cat tested.

Alfie will love his walks and his chance to get out and about

He has the features of a Labrador but is much smaller in body size with shorter legs.

He is active and would love to go on good walks and have the chance to play.

He is well behaved and he is great around other dogs.

We have already started the process of preparing him for his exciting journey to the UK and we expect him to be ready some time early in 2021.
