Sociable and loving Zena lapping up some TLC

Zena was owned by an ex-pat who decided to move back to the UK on her own. Her plan was to take this poor girl off to the shelter. AFOT volunteers stepped in to save her from that fate and today she is indeed in the UK living with her new family in the Black Country town of Dudley …

Zena was owned by an ex-pat Brit in Turkey along with another dog.

All was well until the day came that her owner decided the time was right to move back to the UK.

She didn’t want the expense of taking her dogs with her and so she decided to leave them behind.

Zena is a loving and affectionate girl

Unfortunately, rather than trying to find good homes for them she decided the best option was to take them to the shelter and let them take their chances.

A shelter in Turkey is no place for any dog but especially not for a dog that has been owned and is unused to the survival-of-the-fittest rules of the street dog world.

Zena is great on the lead and loves her walks

Another charity stepped up to take one of the dogs into their care leaving Zena on her own.

She was spotted by a group of animal volunteers and they could not let her go into the shelter, so they arranged to take her out of there and care for her while a more permanent future could be found.

Zena mixes well and is great with cats

They turned to Animal Friends of Turkey and asked for our help, and so now we are working to find just the right home for her with a new family of her own.

Zena is a wonderful young dog and is now just over a year old. She is a small to medium sized dog, and weighs around 15g.

Zena will make a great companion for someone

She is very cat friendly and mixes well with all around her.

She enjoys her walks but still tends to pull a little and will need to have continued training in this area.

She is very affectionate and she will make an ideal companion for somebody. We are now just looking for the right home for her.

Zena is safe now after facing an uncertain future
