Rescued Poppy heading for a loving new home in the UK
Young pup Poppy was just a few weeks old when she was rescued from a river along with her sister as they struggled to reach their Labrador-cross mum.
Their mother had waded across to the other side to forage for food and the two young pups were desperate to join her.

They plunged in and due to flooding the water kept rising, they were on the verge of drowning.
Fortunately they were spotted and rescued from the water by local charity volunteers who tried their hardest to catch mum, to reunite them all, but she was so scared she ran away.
They continued their search but were unable to find her. The rescuers were left with these two babies who were now abandoned and helpless.

One of the volunteers took them home and contacted Animal Friends of Turkey and we are delighted to say that Poppy is now happy in a temporary foster home in Fethiye and is now awaiting a new forever home in the UK.

Poppy is now six-months old and in good health. She is having so much fun in her foster home, unlike so many of the dogs we help she has known no real hardship or trauma in her short life apart from being separated from mum.

Poppy is now going through the process of getting all the vaccinations and necessary tests that are compulsory for travel to the UK in July or August.

Poppy will be ready to make that journey soon and we are delighted that we succeeded in finding a forever home for her in the UK. She is now well used to living in a home with a family and will make an ideal pet for her chosen family.
