Who we are
Paving New Paths for Turkey’s Stray Dogs
Animal Friends of Turkey (AFOT) is a rescue organisation established in 2018, dedicated to saving, rehabilitating, and rehoming street dogs from Turkey. Our primary focus is on the Fethiye and Mugla regions, where we work tirelessly to give abandoned and abused dogs a second chance at life in loving homes, mostly in the UK. In collaboration with partners like MELEZ Dog Rescue and other local charities, we’ve expanded our efforts, pooling resources to rescue more dogs from accross Turkey and find them their forever homes.
At the heart of our mission is rescuing and rehoming dogs, but it comes with its own challenges and significant costs. From veterinary care to transportation and foster support, we rely on the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers in both Turkey and the UK to keep our work going. Despite the challenges, seeing these dogs transform into happy, confident pets is our greatest reward, and we remain committed to giving as many as possible the love and safety they deserve.
