BOZO

Sex: Male
Age: 2 Years 10 Months (Nov 2024)
Size: Medium (25–26 kg)
Needs: An energetic home with ongoing training and plenty of human interaction.
Good with: Children, can live with a submissive female dog in experienced homes, not suitable with other males, cat-friendly.

Bozo was abandoned as a tiny puppy along with three of his siblings in Uzumlu, Turkey. He was taken into foster care, but due to conflict with the resident cats, his foster situation broke down, leaving Bozo at risk of being returned to the streets. He then spent time in a forest encampment where he became deeply stressed and unhappy. AFOT was contacted to help give Bozo a chance at a better future.

Bozo is a strikingly handsome young boy with a soft, tan-and-white coat and a constantly wagging fluffy tail. He’s full of energy and would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his playful, spirited nature. He loves being around people and has a big personality — funny, affectionate, and very much aware of how handsome he is!

Bozo is child- and cat-friendly. However, due to his history, he can be food aggressive around other dogs, and selective in the dogs he gets along with. For this reason, we recommend he be an only dog unless adopted by an experienced home with a calm, submissive female. Training support will be important, as Bozo still needs guidance, especially with lead walking and food manners.

He enjoys spending time in the home, particularly where he can come and go freely — the kitchen is a favourite! He’s known to be scared of thunderstorms, which are common in Turkey, so a calm and reassuring environment will help him feel safe.

Bozo currently lives at the Ortaca Sanctuary but is ready for his forever home. He will need an adjustment period as he transitions, but with love, routine, and positive reinforcement, he will become an incredibly loyal and loving companion.

All our dogs, including Bozo, are tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before travel. Signed vet certificates and results will be provided.

Bozo is a beautiful soul with so much love to give. If you’re looking for a loyal, funny, and loving companion — he’s waiting just for you.

Important Information

All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA

A home check is always made.

We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.

While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.

We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.

Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
