Freddie was found wandering the streets alone in Turkey, confused, frightened, and completely shut down. It was clear that life had not been kind to him, and his nervous disposition reflected the hardship he’d endured. Thankfully, he was taken in by our partner rescue Melez and has slowly started his journey to recovery.
Freddie is a gentle, quiet soul. He’s incredibly shy around people, especially strangers, and will take time to trust. But once that bond is formed, he becomes a devoted companion. He finds comfort and reassurance in the company of other dogs, so a friendly, confident resident dog in the home is essential to help guide him and build his confidence.
While Freddie is still learning to walk on a lead, he is improving and gaining more trust each day. His new family will need to be patient, understanding, and experienced with nervous or under-socialised dogs. A stable, quiet environment is key for his continued progress.
Due to his timid nature, Freddie is best suited to an adult-only home. He hasn’t been tested with cats. His adopter must be willing to give him the time and space he needs to adjust and grow into the loving, loyal dog we know he can be.
Freddie is currently in Turkey and ready to travel to the UK or EU. He truly deserves a home where he will feel safe, loved, and supported.
All our dogs are tested prior to travel for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis. Full test results and signed veterinary certificates are provided to adopters.
Freddie has been through so much and is now patiently waiting for someone to believe in him. Could that be you?
All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:
BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS
Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.
A home check is always made.
We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.
While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.
We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.
Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
If you’ve read through our adoption process and found a dog you think is right for you, it’s time to fill out our adoption form.
