Ginger is a sweet, sensitive little soul who’s been through more than her fair share of hardship. She was found on the streets in terrible condition — malnourished, covered in ticks, and with a badly injured tail that had been torn off, leaving an open wound. She was also bleeding from her mouth and suffering from severe anemia caused by Ehrlichia. Her future looked bleak, but thanks to quick intervention and proper treatment, Ginger made a full recovery and is now healthy and safe in sanctuary care.

Though her body has healed, Ginger is still a delicate, emotional girl who finds the noisy, crowded shelter environment overwhelming. She came into our care in spring 2024 and has shown herself to be loving, loyal, and happiest in calm surroundings. She adores people and seeks out affection, always wanting to stay close to her humans. She’s very friendly when meeting new people, but children make her nervous, and she prefers to avoid them.

With other dogs, Ginger is selective. She gets along well with her chosen friends and enjoys playful moments running around the enclosure, but she struggles to feel comfortable living alongside dogs she doesn’t bond with. This makes shelter life especially difficult for her, as she doesn’t have the option to retreat from noise and conflict.

Outside the shelter, Ginger becomes more confident. She walks beautifully on a lead and loves gentle adventures in quiet areas. Her ideal home would be a peaceful one — free from chaos and loud environments — where she can settle into a predictable daily routine with someone who enjoys giving cuddles as much as she enjoys receiving them.

Ginger is a happy little dog when her surroundings feel safe and predictable. She would do best in a home without children, and with someone who can offer the gentle structure and understanding she craves. A calm home where she is loved, understood, and never overwhelmed would be the perfect place for her to truly blossom.

All our dogs, including Ginger, are tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before travel. Signed vet certificates and results will be provided.

Ginger is ready to find her forever family — a place she can finally call home. If you think you could give her the quiet love-filled life she deserves, please get in touch. She’s waiting patiently with hope in her heart.

If you can offer Ginger the forever home she deserves, please take a look at our adoption process via Adopting With AFOT, where you’ll find everything you need to get started, including our adoption form. A home check is always carried out, and while there’s no fixed adoption fee, we do kindly ask for a voluntary donation to help with our ongoing rescue efforts.

Important Information

All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS

Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.

A home check is always made.

We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.

While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.

We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.

Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
