MIA

Sex: Female
Age: 4 Years 4 Months (Nov 2024)
Size: Large (28-30kg)
Location: Currently in Turkey, awaiting adoption
Needs: A home with love, patience, and regular exercise

Mia is a gentle, playful, and affectionate big girl with a heart of gold. She was one of seven puppies rescued from a town notorious for its cruelty toward street dogs. Born during the harsh winter, Mia and her siblings would not have survived without the care of a local person who kept them fed and safe. Eventually, a kind-hearted animal welfare volunteer contacted Animal Friends of Turkey (AFOT), and Mia and her siblings were brought into our care.

Mia may be a big girl, but her personality is soft and gentle. She is always wagging her tail and is thrilled to be around people. She loves attention and can’t get enough of those loving strokes and fuss. Mia is a sweet girl who is looking for a home full of love, security, and care.

Mia gets along wonderfully with the other dogs at the sanctuary and loves to play with them in the garden. Though she does have a birth defect that affects her back legs a bit, it doesn’t slow her down. She may take her time getting back up, but when she runs and plays, she’s just like any other dog—full of energy and joy.

Mia walks well on a lead and knows some basic commands. She’s an intelligent girl with a lovely, gentle temperament. She’s now ready to find her forever home, where she can receive the love and care she truly deserves.

Mia would thrive in a home with someone who can give her plenty of affection and regular exercise. While she is a large dog, she is incredibly sweet-natured and would be a wonderful companion for a family or an individual who is looking for a loving, loyal dog.

If you think Mia could be the perfect fit for your family, please consider adopting her. A home check is required, and while there is no adoption fee, we do kindly ask for a voluntary donation to help with rescue costs.

Mia is currently waiting for her forever family in Turkey. All our dogs are tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before travel. Proof of testing and signed vet letters will be provided to the adopter.

Could you be the one to offer Mia the forever home she deserves?

If you can offer Mia the forever home she’s been waiting for,

please take a look at our adoption process via Adopting With AFOT, where you’ll find everything you need to get started, including our adoption form. A home check is always carried out, and while there’s no fixed adoption fee, we do kindly ask for a voluntary donation to help with our ongoing rescue efforts.

Important Information

All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS

Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.

A home check is always made.

We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.

While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.

We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.

Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
