❄What makes Roscoe unique: Roscoe has the tiniest sliver of blue in one of his eyes!

Roscoe came into our care in the summer of 2025.
We suspect that Roscoe had a home before. He loves people so much and clearly wants to belong to a family so badly… We don’t know what happened to him, but he ended up in the government shelter, stuck in an overcrowded kennel. Heartbroken and miserable, he was so desperate to be saved. Whenever anyone walked past his kennel, he would cling to the fence, desperately hoping they would take him with them… We couldn’t let this poor boy live in such hopeless agony, so we agreed to take him in.
Now, instead of clinging to the fence, he clings to our legs! He is such a cuddly boy, all he wants is to be loved…

Most of the time, Roscoe is a cheerful, easy-going dog. He is always happy to see you, is easy to handle, and is generally very confident. He walks well on the lead and loves being out and about. He is always up to go out on an adventure and loves accompanying you outdoors. He is very enthusiastic when taken out for walks and wants to explore as much as possible. In his excitement, he can sometimes pull on the lead. He isn’t shy and isn’t easily startled by traffic or loud noises.

However, Roscoe also has a more sensitive side. Roscoe is very submissive towards humans, and unfortunately it is possible that he may have been mistreated before.. He instantly lies down and shows you his belly if he thinks you are angry at him. If you accidentally step on his paw, he screams out in fear and cowers, wagging his tail nervously. We can see that life in the crowded enclosure in Turkey is stressful for him, and he expresses his stress by being very clingy towards towards people. He really looks to humans for reassurance and to feel safe. Whenever anyone comes in to the enclosure, whether it is someone he knows or a stranger, Roscoe is the first to run up to them and jump into their arms. He will hold on to you for as long as he can, not wanting to lose physical contact. We expect that his clinginess will become less once he is able to live in a calm environment where he can get all the human interaction he so craves, but he will always be an extremely affectionate and cuddly dog, who will love getting attention from his family. Whoever adopts Roscoe will be showered in love!

Roscoe gets along well with the other dogs in the enclosure and enjoys playing with them. He gets along well with both male and female dogs. He even shares his toys with his friends! But as he can sometimes get jealous when he is getting attention from someone and another dog approaches, so we think he would be happiest as an only dog, or sharing a home with a social, laid-back dog.

Roscoe really craves human attention and he will be the happiest, most grateful dog once he has been adopted! By adopting Roscoe, you will truly be transforming his life. His adopters will be getting the most loving, loyal dog in the world!

Important Information

All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS

Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.

A home check is always made.

We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.

While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.

We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.

Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
