Sex: Male
Age: 4 Years (Nov 2024)

Needs: Calm, experienced home with rescue knowledge and patience to help him build trust
Good with: Other dogs (best as an only dog or with a calm female), previously lived with small children
Drake was found on the streets near Istanbul as a tiny pup alongside his mum and two siblings. Sadly, only Drake and one sibling survived. His sister found her forever home in 2021, but Drake has been overlooked ever since and has spent the last four years in rescue.
Drake is a gentle, handsome boy with a soft golden coat and soulful eyes. He recently moved foster homes for the first time in three years and responded positively, showing that with the right environment, he’s ready to move forward. Drake is shy and reserved at first, especially around new people and unfamiliar surroundings, but once he feels secure, his sweet and loyal personality shines through.
He absolutely loves his walks — it’s when he’s happiest — and he walks beautifully on the lead. Drake is very friendly with other dogs, but due to his nervous nature, we think he’d do best as an only dog or with a calm resident female. He previously lived in a home with young grandchildren and coped well, so he can live with respectful children in the right setting.
Drake needs an experienced home familiar with the needs of nervous or previously overlooked dogs. With time, patience, and gentle guidance, he will continue to grow in confidence and become a devoted companion.
All our dogs, including Drake, are tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before travel. Signed vet certificates and results will be provided.
Drake has waited so long for his chance — could you be the one to show him what home really means?
All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:
BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS
Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.
A home check is always made.
We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.
While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.
We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.
Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
If you’ve read through our adoption process and found a dog you think is right for you, it’s time to fill out our adoption form.
