FERGUS

Sex: Male
Age: 2 Years 3 Months (Nov 2024)
Size: Medium-Large
Needs: A firm, consistent owner with rescue experience, able to provide disciplined training and boundaries.
Good with: Other dogs, potentially cat-friendly (chases for fun, not aggression), and can be tested with children.

Fergus, along with his nine siblings, was found in a remote area of the Turkish mountains by a visiting family. The family fed them to keep them alive, knowing that no one else would be able to help. AFOT was contacted, and with only two days to raise the necessary funds, we were able to step in and rescue the family. Fergus and his siblings arrived at our sanctuary and thrived under our care.

Fergus is the stronger, more dominant of his brothers, but he is a good-natured and affectionate dog. He will need a confident, experienced owner who can provide consistent training and set clear boundaries. He walks well on a lead but is strong, so he will need an owner who can handle his energy.

Fergus is dog-friendly and gets along well with other dogs. He is also potentially cat-friendly, as he chases the house cats for fun, not aggression. He is a healthy, happy boy with a sunny disposition and will make a fantastic companion with the right training.

While Fergus can be an only dog, we believe he would do best in a home with a resident female dog, as he has always been with his brothers. He is intelligent and will thrive with a family that can provide structure and consistency.

This lovely boy will make a wonderful, loyal companion and is ready to find his forever home.

Important Information

All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS

Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.

A home check is always made.

We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.

While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.

We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.

Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
