FINLEY

Sex: Male
Age: 2 Years 3 Months (Nov 2024)
Size: Large (28-29 kg)
Location: Currently in Turkey, awaiting adoption
Needs: A home with patience for socialization

Finley is a striking, confident, and happy-go-lucky dog who is sure to charm anyone he meets. He was discovered in a remote area of the Turkish mountains, along with 9 other pups, struggling to survive. A visiting family found them and kept them fed, but they knew that no one else would visit the area. They contacted Animal Friends of Turkey (AFOT) for help, and Finley arrived in our care during the winter of 2022.

Finley is a true ladies’ man. He’s playful, affectionate, and full of character. His striking appearance, with a little white spot on his nose, gives him a handsome and memorable look. Finley is always seen playing with the female dogs in the sanctuary, and he gets along with males as well, although he stands his ground with dominant males. He’s a well-mannered boy, polite and gentle when eating and always polite when interacting with others.

Finley’s playful, affectionate nature makes him a joy to be around. He loves to be stroked, cuddled, and enjoys his food. He is a very friendly and well-balanced dog with an incredible temperament, and we’re sure his lovely personality will shine in a home environment.

Although Finley hasn’t had experience living in a home, he is now more than ready for his forever home in the UK. He will need some socialization training to help him adjust to the outside world, as he’s been in a tranquil, remote sanctuary for over 18 months. However, with patience and time, we believe Finley will quickly settle into a loving home and show his true, lovable personality.

Finley walks well on a lead and has a beautiful, luscious coat that he loves to have groomed. He loves to play with the other dogs in the sanctuary and would be happy to live with other dogs in a home, though a gentle and calm environment would be ideal for him.

If you think you can offer Finley the forever home he’s been waiting for, please consider adopting him. A home check is required, and while there is no adoption fee, a voluntary donation to help with rescue costs would be greatly appreciated.

Finley is currently waiting for his forever family in Turkey. All dogs are tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before travel, and proof of testing and signed vet letters will be provided to the adopter.

Finley is ready to bring joy, love, and fun to a lucky family. Could that family be yours?

If you can offer Finley the forever home he deserves, please take a look at our adoption process via Adopting With AFOT, where you’ll find everything you need to get started, including our adoption form. A home check is always carried out, and while there’s no fixed adoption fee, we do kindly ask for a voluntary donation to help with our ongoing rescue efforts.

Important Information

All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS

Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.

A home check is always made.

We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.

While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.

We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.

Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
