LILLI

Sex: Female
Age: 4 Years 6 Months (Nov 2024)
Size: Large (40kg)
Location: Currently in Turkey, awaiting adoption
Needs: A home with patience, love, and understanding, and plenty of cuddles

Lilli is a calm and clever girl with a heart of gold. Found abandoned in a forest in Turkey, Lilli was in a pitiful condition—skinny from starvation and covered in mange. She was found alongside another dog, Lena, and although initially thought to be her pup, they may have simply been dumped together or found each other while wandering alone in the forest. The two of them formed a strong bond, and they were inseparable.

After receiving medical treatment, Lilli and Lena were fostered by a kind Turkish couple, but when they moved to Antalya, the dogs were placed in another foster home. It was at this point that Animal Friends of Turkey (AFOT) was asked for help in finding them loving permanent homes.

Lilli has transformed into a stunning, friendly dog with a lovely temperament. She gets along well with everyone, including children, other dogs, and even cats. She’s affectionate and loves cuddles, with tummy rubs being her absolute favorite. If you’re lucky enough to adopt Lilli, you’ll need to be prepared for plenty of tummy rubs!

While Lilli has a sweet, easygoing nature, she can be a little food aggressive, especially around other dogs. This behavior is common in dogs that have had to fight for food in the past, and any potential adopter should be aware of this and work on training accordingly. Lilli adores her food, and if there’s a resident dog, they should be fed separately to avoid any issues.

Lilli is highly intelligent and enjoys mental stimulation, so she’ll thrive in a home that provides both regular exercise and opportunities for training. She’s good on the lead, so walks with Lilli will be a joy.

This beautiful girl weighs around 40kg and has the most captivating golden eyes. She can be re-homed as an only dog or with a resident male dog. Lilli is used to a home environment, and while she may need a brief period of adjustment, she will quickly bond with her new family once she builds trust.

Lilli is neutered, vaccinated, and chipped, and she’s ready to start the next chapter of her life in the UK. If you think Lilli could be the dog of your dreams, please take a look at what’s involved in adopting one of our rescue dogs by clicking the link: Adopting With AFOT. A home check is required, and while there’s no fixed adoption fee, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help with our rescue costs.

All our dogs are tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before travel, and proof of testing and signed vet letters will be provided to the adopter.

If you think you could offer Lilli the life and forever home she deserves, please check out our adoption process via Adopting With AFOT. There, you’ll find everything you need to get started, including our adoption form. A home check is always carried out, and while there’s no fixed adoption fee, we do kindly ask for a voluntary donation to help with our ongoing rescue efforts.

Important Information

All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS

Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.

A home check is always made.

We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.

While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.

We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.

Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
