NUGGET

Sex: Female
Age: 3 Years (March 2026)
Size: Large (33-34kg)
Location: Currently in UK Kennels in the Cambridgeshire area
Needs : A home with regular exercise, patience for adjustment period and interaction with other dogs

Nugget, although an independent, confident, and fun-loving girl will be somewhat reserved until she gets to know you, when she does she will love all the attention, strokes and cuddles but especially neck rubs. Her independent nature can sometime be called ‘stubborn’ she needs to be coerced into doing things she doesn’t want to! Nugget was discovered along with her mum and nine siblings in an isolated area in the Turkish mountains, struggling to survive. A visiting family found them and kept them fed, but once they left, no one else would have been able to help. They contacted Animal Friends of Turkey (AFOT) for assistance, and Nugget and her family were rescued.
Nugget is as bouncy and joyful as they come! With her striking appearance and lively personality, she’s always looking for fun and adventures. Nugget loves to be the one out in front, and her energy and playful nature are contagious, she really enjoys her time outside the kennel. She’s completely dog-friendly and enjoyed playing with all the other dogs in the enclosure in Turkey, she always brings an extra dose of joy wherever she goes.
Nugget is great on a lead and has been tested with cats. With the right introduction, she can happily live with a cat/s. She’s also met children over 8 years old and, while she can be bouncy, she’s perfectly fine around them. Nugget enjoys car rides and travels well.
At over 3 years old Nugget is neutered, chipped, and vaccinated, and she’s ready for her forever home. She can be re-homed as an only dog or with a resident dog/s, preferably a male/s as she is so independent. If re-homed as an only dog, she would need regular interaction with other dogs. As a high-energy girl, she will need plenty of exercise and kind, consistent training to set boundaries.
Although Nugget has not lived in a home yet, we believe she will thrive once the period of adjustment has been permitted and her owner takes things slowly and at her pace. They will be rewarded with the most loyal fabulous pet.
If you think you could offer Nugget the forever home she deserves, please consider adopting her. A home check is required, and while there is no adoption fee, a voluntary donation to help with rescue costs would be greatly appreciated.
Nugget is currently in the UK in the Cambridgeshire area in kennels, visits can be arranged and are encouraged. All dogs are tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before travel, and proof of testing and signed vet letters will be provided to the adopter.

Could you be the one to offer Nugget the loving home she’s been waiting for?

If you can offer Nugget the forever home she deserves, please take a look at our adoption process via Adopting With AFOT, where you’ll find everything you need to get started, including our adoption form. A home check is always carried out, and while there’s no fixed adoption fee, we do kindly ask for a voluntary donation to help with our ongoing rescue efforts.

Important Information

All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS

Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.

A home check is always made.

We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.

While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.

We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.

Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
