Little poppet Dolly may not have had the best start but she was quickly snapped up and is now having the best life living with the Ansdell’s in Southampton.
Thoroughly loving her first Christmas

Being thoroughly spoilt, she travels the country on holiday, always coming home to her lovely forever home and all her home comforts. She’s one lucky puppy! This is her original story…

Little Dolly was rescued when AFOT was asked to help her as a last resort before being taken to the shelter. This tiny puppy had zero chance of survival in a Turkish shelter where starvation, disease and being prey to larger dogs would mean a torturous existence.
“Well, hello Dolly!”

This gorgeous little girl is thought to be a Maltipoo, bred in Turkey and purchased by a local Turkish man with the intention to breed, she is only 10 months old (Nov 2023). She has had a restricted puppyhood locked up for over 14hrs a day and the rest of the time kept on a short leash tied to a chair outside a shop.

When first rescued, she was so tiny!

The breed do not like to be left alone and Dolly needs an owner who can spend the majority of the day with her, not only take her out for walks, but play with her, take her shopping, visits in the car etc. This breed characteristic combined with the fact she has been previously left on her own so much has left her over anxious. When she is learning to trust you she will bark and cry if she can’t see you but she’s very happy when she can see you. This will improve with time when she trusts you are not going to leave her for so long. Initially she will be your shadow panicking if she can’t see you but it does improve.

Dolly is only 5.5 kg (Nov 2023) – a small, sweet little dog, she is great with dogs and good with children. She could live as an only dog or with a resident dog of a similar breed.

She barks at cats and wants to chase but is not aggressive with them and training is in place in foster care and she could live with a non sensitive cat, but ideally a cat free home would be best.

Dolly is such a sweetheart and everyone who meets her falls in love with her

Dolly is such a sweetheart and everyone who meets her falls in love with her. She will go in a crate for periods and is house trained. She will not voluntarily go in the crate but is happy to have a chew in there – She loves her food, is excellent on a lead and she absolutely adores being loved – strokes, cuddles and lots of belly rubs!

How can you resist?

Without us there is no hope for these dogs and for every one we rehome there is another 100 waiting to take its place. But, we can only do so much without space or funds. Being volunteer run you can be sure 100% of your money goes towards food, foster care, vet bills and travel costs.

It costs in excess of £2500 for every dog we rescue & rehome, so to help us help more dogs like Dolly please donate, every single penny counts. Thank you.
