Making a Difference for Dogs in Need

Our Mission

Animal Friends of Turkey is a volunteer-run charity with no paid officers. Every penny of our income is dedicated to our sole mission: rehoming dogs into loving homes in the UK. We are a non-profit organisation, driven by passion and commitment to improving the lives of animals in need.

Our work continues to grow, and as we expand, we remain focused on ensuring that all donations and efforts go directly towards the care and rehoming of these deserving dogs. With no paid staff, every contribution truly makes a difference.

Our Volunteers

We rely on the support of volunteers in both the UK and Turkey. Some focus on fundraising and generating revenue to cover essential costs like vet bills and transportation. Others dedicate their time to various tasks, including social media, admin, and event planning.

Volunteers are the backbone of our organisation, and without their invaluable support, we would not be able to continue our work. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or take on a more regular role, there is always a place for you in our team. Your efforts directly impact the lives of dogs in need.

Home Visits

Home visits are an essential part of our adoption process. Volunteers conduct home checks to ensure that potential adopters provide a safe, loving environment for the dogs. We are looking for volunteers to help in areas of the UK where we currently have gaps in our coverage.

There is a clear procedure and set criteria for home visits, and we provide training to new volunteers. Home visits help us ensure that every dog goes to a suitable home, and volunteers play a vital role in this process. Your involvement in this area directly impacts the success of our rehoming efforts.

By becoming a home visitor, you will be helping us to match dogs with the right families, ensuring their safety and happiness for years to come. Your support in this process is invaluable to the success of our mission.

Foster Carers

The need for foster carers is urgent, and as we grow, we are always looking for animal-loving people to step in. In Turkey, fostering can involve caring for dogs for up to four months while we complete the necessary procedures for their transport to the UK. We need more foster carers in both Turkey and the UK.

In the UK, temporary foster homes are sometimes needed when a dog’s forever home isn’t secured before transport. All dogs are rehabilitated and any issues will be clearly communicated to the foster carer.

We’d love for you to join our foster carer team – please complete our application form to get started and make a difference!

What’s Next

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re able to help with fundraising, admin, home visits, or fostering, your support will make a real difference in the lives of these dogs.

We are always looking for passionate individuals who want to help these dogs find their forever homes in the UK. To learn more about how you can contribute, please reach out to us via our contact form.
