Cooper was discovered with his 9 siblings in a remote area of the Turkish mountains by a visiting family. The family fed the pups to keep them alive but knew they wouldn’t be able to return. They reached out to Animal Friends of Turkey (AFOT) for help, and Cooper arrived in AFOT care in the Winter of 2022.
Cooper is a handsome boy with a striking black mask, but he’s a bit shy and timid at first. He’s often reserved around new people and tends to sit back and watch rather than approach right away. However, once he learns to trust you, he’s all yours—affectionate, loyal, and full of love. His sweet and happy personality shines through once he feels safe and settled.
Cooper has lots of energy and loves to play, especially with his brother, Finley, and the other dogs in the sanctuary. He walks well on a lead and is gentle when offered food. He’s a kind dog with excellent manners and will thrive in a home with a patient adopter who can provide him with socialization and training. He is best suited to a home with a resident female dog who can show him the ropes and make him feel more comfortable. While he’s dog-friendly, he tends to prefer female dogs and has not been cat tested.
Although Cooper hasn’t had any experience living in a home, he has shown great progress in the sanctuary, and with some time and socialization, he will make a wonderful companion. He will need patience and consistency as he adjusts to his new life, so a home familiar with the needs of rescue dogs is ideal.
Cooper is neutered, chipped, vaccinated, and ready for his forever home. He’s been in AFOT care for over 18 months, and we are confident that he will make a loyal, loving pet for the right family. If you think you can offer Cooper the loving home he deserves, please check out the adoption process by clicking this link: [Adopting with AFOT]. A home check is required, and while there is no adoption fee, a voluntary donation to help with rescue costs is greatly appreciated.
