MISSY

Sex: Female
Age: 4 Years 4 Months (Nov 2024)
Size: Large (28-30kg)
Location: Currently in Turkey, awaiting adoption
Needs: A home with regular exercise, clear boundaries, and plenty of attention

Missy is a beautiful, playful, and confident girl who will bring a big burst of personality to any home. She was one of seven puppies rescued from a town notorious for its cruelty to street dogs. Born in the depths of winter, Missy and her siblings wouldn’t have survived without the kindness of a local who kept them fed and safe until help arrived.

Missy has grown into a stunning, large girl who loves to be the center of attention. She is an incredibly friendly dog who gets along well with other dogs, but she likes to be in charge when it comes to playtime. In a large group of dogs, she remains sociable and friendly.

Missy is well-trained in basic commands and walks beautifully on a lead. She thrives on exercise, so her new home should be one where she can continue to get plenty of walks and mental stimulation. She currently lives with her foster carer outside but has access to the home during the day. Missy has met her foster carer’s grandchildren and has been great with them, showing how adaptable and loving she is.

The ideal home for Missy would be as an only dog or with a male dog already in residence, as she enjoys being the leader. Missy is bright and eager to please, so with clear boundaries and guidance, she will thrive and be a wonderful companion.

At 4 years and 4 months old, Missy is neutered, chipped, and vaccinated, and is ready to find her forever home in the UK. A home check is required, and while there is no adoption fee, a voluntary donation to help with rescue costs would be greatly appreciated.

Missy is currently waiting for her forever family in Turkey. All dogs are tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before travel, and proof of testing and signed vet letters will be provided to the adopter.

Could you be the one to offer Missy the loving home she deserves?

If you think you could offer Missy the forever home she’s been waiting for, please take a look at our adoption process via Adopting With AFOT, where you’ll find everything you need to get started, including our adoption form. A home check is always carried out, and while there’s no fixed adoption fee, we do kindly ask for a voluntary donation to help with our ongoing rescue efforts.

Important Information

All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS

Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.

A home check is always made.

We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.

While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.

We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.

Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
