Autumn is a very special girlie that was found when only a few months old. She was rescued by an animal volunteer who spotted her as she was driving on a mountain road with snowy mountains either side in the middle of nowhere . Mummy was nowhere to be seen. She was very malnourished & obviously very poorly the volunteer knew she had to get her to safety.
She stayed with this lady some months and during this time during a vet check it was picked up that Autumn had a heart issue. Some months after Autumn found herself forcibly removed to a local Turkish shelter. AFOT rescued Autumn along with a number of other dogs in October 26
The vague info we had on Autumn, was that she had some issue with her heart.
It was important for this little girls sake that we got this checked. Initial blood tests indicated she did have a heart issue, in order for us to get a diagnosis and possible prognosis we booked her in for an echocardiogram & all necessary tests to determine this.
Autumn was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy and started
medication immediately which will probably need to be lifelong along with a special cardio diet.
Further tests in March 26 have shown that There has been a significant improvement in her cardiac function. The dimensions of her heart have approached normal limits. The vet feels that although there is obvious dilation, it has stabilized and her overall health and cardiac health have improved.
Autumn is such a lovely brave little girlie 🌺she doesn’t have a bad bone in her body, she is gentle sweet & shy 🌸and already trusts her carer Hakan, we hope & pray that someone will open their heart to Autumn realising that uncertainty may come with this diagnosis, she may well live a long and happy life, many dogs with this diagnosis do but, equally, she may not and that is why we pray someone will take her because if she is destined to live a shorter life we want her to experience her own home filled with love and kindness not an enclosure in Turkey with lots of other dogs.
Autumn will need a quiet peaceful home with quiet (not lengthy) exercise, nothing excessive., although she does play madly sometimes ! She gets on so well with other dogs and people , she has also lived with cats and had visiting children both of whom she also got on with. Autumn walks lovely on a lead , she will make a lovely companion for someone special who wants to really RESCUE in the true sense of the word.
Autumn will need regular check up’s at the vets and will continue with the daily medication which may be lifelong. She will also need a special cardio diet. We will also do another round of tests before she leaves for the UK so we have up to date medical history.
The voluntary adoption will be discussed along with this lovely girls medical needs with any potential adopter.
We really pray that there is that someone out there that will give her this chance and love her for the rest of her life however long that may be. She so deserves it.
Autumn is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, and has been tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before leaving Turkey along with proof of testing and signed vet letters.
