LADY

Sex: Female
Age: Approx. 2,5 years (August 2026)
Size: Approx. 20 kg (Medium)
Location: Turkey

Lady was in a terrible state when we rescued her from a local kill shelter. It’s clear that she has been through a lot, and that she hadn’t received proper care in ages before she came to us. Her fur was completely matted and she was underweight. She has old injuries in her left ear and eye, and is partially blind in her bad eye. We will never know what happened to her, but we do know that she deserves a future where she can live in safety and comfort for the rest of her life!

Despite everything she has been through, this resilient girl is the most cheerful, playful dog you will meet! Lady is an energetic dog with a huge lust for life. She’s always cheerful and excited to play or cuddle. She spends her days running around the enclosure playing with the other dogs. Her favourite activity is splashing around in the paddling pools. Lady loves water and can often be found jumping in and out of the paddling pools, or lying beside them.

Lady adores people. She is always the first in line to greet people when someone arrives in the enclosure. She makes sure she is front of the queue so she is the first to get cuddles! She gets very excited when she sees people and wants to become best friends with everyone she meets. She will need to learn to be a little less excited and greet people more calmly once she is in a home.

With her high, excited energy, Lady isn’t a match for all other dogs. Calm, timid dogs may find her overwhelming. Lady can be a bit unsure of how to greet new dogs, and can be nervous when introduced to a new dog. Once she has had the chance to have calm introductions, she loves having other dogs around as playmates. We expect she would be happy sharing her home with another stable, social, playful dog, but she would also enjoy being the only dog in the home, so that she can get all the attention and cuddles!

Lady walks well on the lead and enjoys being out and about and exploring new places. She can sometimes pull out of excitement.

With her cheerful nature and lust for life, Lady is sure to bring lots of joy to her new home. She will be so happy to have a family of her own, who can love her just as much as she will love them. She will need lots of stability and structure to help her manage her excitement, but once she is settled, we know that she will be the happiest dog on the world!

Lady is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, and has been tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before leaving Turkey along with proof of testing and signed vet letters.

If you think you could offer Lady the forever home she’s been waiting for, please check out our adoption process via Adopting With AFOT. There, you’ll find everything you need to get started, including our adoption form. A home check is always carried out, and while there’s no fixed adoption fee, we do kindly ask for a voluntary donation to help with our ongoing rescue efforts.

Important Information

All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS

Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.

A home check is always made.

We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.

While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.

We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.

Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
