Nancy is a tiny, delicate little girl with a gentle nature. She doesn’t have the size, strength or fighter spirit to defend herself and survive as a stray. She was made to be a pet, living in a loving, safe, comfortable home. But Nancy had misfortune of being born in Turkey, and there she was unwanted, and had no-one to look after her and defend her from the dangers of life as a stray.
We rescued Nancy from a government shelter, which has turned into a kill shelter under Turkey’s ‘Massacre Law’. She was stuck in an overcrowded kennel, having to share her living space, and her food, with around 50 other dogs. As the smallest, weakest dog of the group, Nancy was unable to stand up for herself to get access to the food, and she had to go without eating for days. When we rescued her, she was completely malnourished and was all skin and bones.
Thankfully, all it took was some loving care for Nancy to bounce back and transform into a happy, healthy girl. She is now safe and healthy and ready to find the home she so deserves!
Nancy may be 8 years old, but she doesn’t show her age and is fit as a fiddle! Everyone who meets her thinks she is a puppy, and is very surprised when they find out her actual age. She is a cheerful, playful little girl, who is really enjoying life now that she is finally safe.
Nancy adores other dogs, and wants to interact with every dog she meets. She loves having lots of play mates in the kennels and is friends with all her kennel mates.
She also loves people, and is always happy to see you. She does a little happy dance when she sees you approaching, and comes up for cuddles straight away. She is also very friendly towards strangers, and lets herself be pet by everyone she meets. Although she loves people, because she has never had a real family of her own to build up a bond of unconditional trust with, she can still get intimidated when she thinks someone is going to harm her. She is very scared of being picked up for example, and when someone has done something that scared her, she retreats into her kennel and tries to hide. Once she has a loving home, she will be able to learn to trust people fully, and that she doesn’t have to worry that someone will harm her ever again!
Nancy has a gentle, soft character and although she is very cheerful, she does get overwhelmed easily. Noisy, crowded places make her feel insecure. She would be happiest in a quiet environment, with a calm, stable daily routine that can help her feel completely safe.
If ever a dog deserved a happy home, it is Nancy! She so deserves to learn what it is like to be loved by a family who will keep her safe and comfortable for the rest of her life.
Nancy is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, and has been tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before leaving Turkey along with proof of testing and signed vet letters.
