Don’t let Phoenix’s cheerful personality fool you – this girl has been through a lot.

If only poor Phoenix could tell us everything she has been through and all she has had to endure… We know she had an owner before. Her owner most likely abandoned her at the government shelter when she was injured because they couldn’t be bothered to get her treated. They turned their backs on her and refused to help her when she needed them the most…
We have no idea what happened to her. We think she might have been involved in a big accident, where she was hit with such a huge force, that her front leg was cut completely off, and she received a blow to the head which left her with a crooked jaw. We hope that what happened to her was an accident, and that she didn’t suffer at the hands of humans…
She was stuck in the government shelter, with a fresh wound still visible on the stump of her front leg, with no hope of proper care or treatment. With the help of our sponsors, AFOT were able to get her out and get her the treatment she needed.

What remained of Phoenix’s leg had to be amputated. She has adjusted wonderfully to life as a tri-pawd, and is still very energetic and mobile.

Despite everything she has been through, Phoenix is the happiest, most loving and trusting dog you will ever meet!

Phoenix adores people. She is very cuddly and just wants to be in your lap all day. Despite missing a front leg, she will jump up and hold on to you with her one front leg, trying to hug you and hold you tight. Phoenix doesn’t care whether she knows you or if she is meeting you for the first time – everyone gets the same enthusiastic greeting, and she wants attention and cuddles from everyone.

She is equally social towards other dogs, and is friendly when meeting new dogs, and gets along well with her kennelmates. She occasionally plays with the other dogs, but is also very content entertaining herself and really enjoys playing with toys by herself.

Phoenix sees cats as her personal enemy, and gets very excited when she sees one and tries to chase it.

Phoenix is a confident dog, who isn’t easily spooked of frightened. She walks well on the lead and likes going out to explore. As a tripawd, she won’t be able to do very long walks, but she would still love to have an active lifestyle.

We are looking for a happy home for sweet Phoenix – somewhere where she can feel safe and loved, with people who can see past her handicap and see her for the cheerful, fun-loving, and loyal dog she is. Phoenix is sure to bring lots of joy to her new home, and she truly deserves a family who will give her as much love as she will give them.

Phoenix is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, and has been tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before leaving Turkey along with proof of testing and signed vet letters.
