ROMI

Sex: Female
Age: 10 months (July 2026)
Size: 12 kg (Small) – although she is 10 months old
Location: Turkey

Meet Romi, AFOT’S beautiful baby girl who just came into our care in the middle of July 2026. This little girl was noticed on the streets by a Trustee and her 9 year old grandson who were over on holiday and visiting our other AFOT dogs already safe.
While out walking she followed them for a considerable way, this happened on several occasions, however it became very obvious she was not used to living on the streets as her road sense was non existent, she was at huge risk of being hurt or killed in a road accident and also at inevitable risk of being picked up under the new law and potentially culled.
She is the sweetest girl and just loves people, following tourists on the streets, looking for attention and safety, begging for someone to take notice of her
We suspect she did have a home ( possibly living in a garden), as she was in good condition when found, however its likely as she was getting older she had recently been dumped and not wanted anymore, and had been on the streets for at least a week. Thankfully she was rescued in time!
She is super affectionate, friendly, and playful. Loves playing with toys, loves belly rubs, good with children. She stayed a few nights in an emergency home until she could go to the enclosure with our other dogs with another dog who is a very large dog and she was very good and playful with the dog, regardless of his size. Not cat tested but likely to be fine with cats due to the amount of them on the street.
Romi has recently been to the vet’s and has been neutered and has had her disease testing complete, which has all come back negative and will be ready for rehoming in several months time.

Romi is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, and has been tested for Brucella, Leishmaniasis, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and E-Canis before leaving Turkey along with proof of testing and signed vet letters.

If you think you could offer Romi the forever home she’s been waiting for, please check out our adoption process via Adopting With AFOT. There, you’ll find everything you need to get started, including our adoption form. A home check is always carried out, and while there’s no fixed adoption fee, we do kindly ask for a voluntary donation to help with our ongoing rescue efforts.

Important Information

All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS

Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.

A home check is always made.

We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines.

While there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs of between £595-£795. Each dog costs us on average £2500-£3000 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and our adoption donation is only a small proportion of this.

We rely solely on fundraising for the remainder plus any emergency treatment needed to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals which are often in horrific condition and desperate need when they come into AFOT care.

Every penny we raise goes towards rescuing another dog, so even if you decide not to rehome one of our dogs today, please consider a donation so that we can continue to rescue another dog in the future.
