Matching our dogs with the perfect home is of utmost importance to us. They’ve been through so much that it’s imperative they go to the right adopters. People see a dog on social media or a website and fall in love with how it looks but that may not mean that that dog is right for you and there may be many reasons for that. Our job is to make sure you get the right dog and the dog gets the right home – that’s our ultimate goal – our experienced rehoming team will find the right match for both you and the dog’s needs.

Pammy was adopted by the Vinall family and they celebrate her Gotcha Day every year – lucky Pammy!

You can be welcoming a new member to your family shortly and the process starts here. To begin we ask that you read Our Dog Adoption Policies as the first step to find out just what we would expect from you as part of the commitment to rehoming a rescue dog.

It’s not something to take on lightly – a dog is a big investment and could be with you for up to 15 years, along with the basics of food, toys and bedding, there’s the cost involved of insurance and vet bills – all a big expense that must be considered.

Then there’s exercise and training – a dog needs plenty of stimulation and exercise to prevent boredom and the issues which could arise from that and different breed traits mean different levels of exercise may be required. Although we don’t necessarily know the breeds running through some of our beautiful mixed breed rescues, an educated guess can often suggest what their prey drive, exercise and training requirements might be. Our Guide to Taking On A Rescue Dog gives lots of advice on what to expect and this is the second stage to welcoming your little, or not so little, furry friend.

Dennis loves his exercise, but snuggling up in his comfy bed afterwards is just as appealing.

The third step is finding the perfect pooch and our Dogs For Rehoming section is where you’ll find most of our dogs ready for adoption. Others may still be being assessed and will join our website shortly. Each dog is displayed in a number of photographs and some may have short videos, but please bear in mind that our foster carers are not professional photographers and sometimes the dogs just won’t stand still long enough to get that perfect pose to do them justice, it’s only a snapshot of that dog so please read their bio to find out what’s beneath the surface.

AFOT works to DEFRA standards and beyond and all our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:

BRUCELLA

LEISHMANIAS

ANAPLASMA

HEARTWORM

E-CANIS

Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.

And finally, when you’re ready and have a dog in mind, or you decide you want to leave it to us to find you the right dog, it’s time to complete our Adoption Registration Form. Behind the scenes our experienced rehoming team of volunteers will spring into action and will be in touch with you shortly.
