Gorgeous Teddy spent such a long time awaiting his forever home but it was definitely worth waiting for when he was adopted by our supporter Sharon Fox and family in London.

This is Teddy’s original story: Abandoned and all alone, little Teddy was found in a field at 6 weeks old with a bowl of green slime and a running hosepipe that was the only thing keeping him alive.

A Turkish man had originally contacted rescue charity AA Ovacik and asked if they would look after a puppy for him temporarily as he had to rush away for personal reasons during Covid. He had been let down by a friend and was desperate for help. The man disappeared and they had to search for the puppy with no help. When they eventually found the pup half way up a mountain, they were devastated to find the puppy terrified and alone.
Thankfully, a local gardener had thought to leave running water or the puppy would have died. The man never returned and said he no longer wanted the dog. AA Ovacik contacted AFOT and asked if we could take the puppy on as there was no future for him in Turkey.
Teddy has just turned one year old and is a bundle of fun. He currently weighs 18kg and is a small/medium cross-breed dog with a gorgeous short haired tan coloured coat.

He is so bouncy, loving and friendly and will make a great family dog. He loves children.

Teddy loves his food and will go around the other bowls to see if the others have left anything. He walks on a lead but being so young his training is a work in progress and will need to be continued. But he is eager to learn and being so food motivated, training should be relatively easy and fun. Teddy just thinks every day is a party. He is such a character and you can’t help but love him.

Teddy is looking for a family home where he will get lots of attention and good regular exercise – he really is a great dog and will make a superb family pet.

Teddy has found his forever home but if you’re interested in taking on one of our other rescue dogs,
please take a look at what’s involved in taking on one of our rescue dogs by clicking this link: Adopting With AFOT, where you will find an adoption registration form. A home check is always made and while there is no adoption fee required, we do ask for a voluntary donation to help towards our costs.
All our dogs will be tested prior to leaving Turkey for the following diseases:
BRUCELLA
LEISHMANIAS
ANAPLASMA
HEARTWORM
E-CANIS
Proof of tests and accompanying signed vet letters will be sent to adopter.
AFOT is a UK registered charity (number 1182513), run by a small group of dedicated volunteers. We provide a lifetime rescue back up (RBU) and work to DEFRA guidelines. We were set up to offer a future where there is none to dogs in Turkey. With each dog costing us on average £2500 and our adoption donation being a small proportion of this, we rely solely on fundraising to help these abused, neglected and abandoned animals.
Without us there is no hope for these dogs and for every one we rehome there is another 100 waiting to take its place. But, we can only do so much without space or funds. Being volunteer run you can be sure 100% of your money goes towards food, foster care, vet bills and travel costs. Even if you decide not to adopt, please consider a donation.
Thank you.
