Nel is a typical Boxer, with her wiggle-butt greeting, she’s just an absolute delight but when she came into AFOT her wiggle made us cry. It was hard to understand just how she could be so happy when she’d been so mistreated, but testament to her beautiful nature, she was. This is her original story –

When Nel came into AFOT care she absolutely broke our hearts. She was unrecognisable as the beautiful Boxer-Cross she has become.

Nel looked like an old dog, she was in very poor condition. Her coat was extremely dry and her eyes looked incredibly sore. She’d been in a shelter as she had an ear tag and that’s probably where she had been neutured but she had been released with an open and infected wound. If she had not been rescued when she was we hate to think what would have happened to Nel.

Even though very poorly Nel still had the typical Boxer greeting for everyone she met and that wiggle-butt has never stopped. She’s THE happiest girl with so much love to give, a real fun loving girl.

Before…And now!

Nel is estimated to be 3 1/2 years old (Jan 2023). She has had a hard life for sure, although we don’t know Nel’s full history it’s clear to see she has had it tough.

But all that’s behind her now as Nel’s got a fabulous future ahead of her now she’s in AFOT care. We know there’s the perfect loving family and forever home out there for Nel and we’re determined to find it because Nel deserves it.

Nel, while in our care, has had surgery for ‘Cherry Eye’ which has been successful.

Nel is a smallish Boxer-X with a blue/grey short haired coat. She’s absolutely beautiful and has the sweetest temperament – she has inherited the typical boxer temperament, full of fun and an absolute joy to be around.

Nel will bark at you to tell you what she wants. She is very active, playful, & friendly and loves cuddles and affection.

She eats well but is greedy and has to be fed alone because she tries to steal food, she’s not food aggressive just greedy, probably due to being previously starved. She gets on well with all the other dogs at the AFOT Sanctuary where she’s staying and loves people.

Nel loves to be around the other dogs, large and small… nothing phases her.

Nel does pull on the lead and will require ongoing training. She will sit and wait on command for food and being food oriented this will help with training which will create a strong bond with her future adopter as she is eager to please for food and love.

Nel is such a happy and active girl and always on the go (although the long hot Turkish Summers aren’t ideal for Boxers). Nel will be the perfect family pet for an active household looking for a bouncy dog with lots of energy who needs plenty of exercise. Nel isn’t cat tested but has been tested with older children and like most Boxers, is child friendly.
